RedTech Recruitment Ltd. is seeking an Optical & Photonic Engineer to join a hands-on hardware team in the North Cambridge area. You will drive concepts through prototypes to production, working across optics, photonics and hardware engineering.

This role requires willingness and eligibility to obtain DV security clearance, with long UK residency history. You will operate on-site in a fully on-site role, collaborating with engineers to deliver robust optical solutions.

Qualifications

• 2.1 or 1st degree in Optical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field; AAB at A level or international equivalent
• Strong hands-on experience with optical or laser systems
• Experience selecting, integrating and calibrating camera and lens systems
• Experience handling lasers in electromechanical systems
• Laboratory environment experience with optics alignment and testing
• Solid understanding of imaging theory, beam propagation and coatings
• Ability to work independently in a growing tech company; DV security clearance eligibility
• Experience with machine vision or optomechanical design is a plus

Responsabilités

• Design and specify optical systems including lens selection and imaging configurations
• Collaborate with computer vision specialists to develop solutions
• Select, integrate and align laser sources within designs
• Develop camera-based imaging systems including sensor and optics calibration
• Build and test optical prototypes with alignment and troubleshooting
• Work with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to integrate subsystems
• Produce technical documentation and test procedures
• Support manufacturing partners from prototype to production
• Ensure laser safety standards are met
