Job summary

Renishaw in the United Kingdom is seeking a Product Lifecycle Engineer – Optical Encoder Technology to lead obsolescence activities across our optical product range and to develop strategies that phase out legacy products smoothly.

You will collaborate with product marketing, engineering, subsidiaries, and customers to migrate from obsolete products to suitable alternatives, build upgrade paths, analyse sales data, and present lifecycle plans to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• HND or equivalent qualification in an engineering / STEM discipline.
• Experience coordinating product obsolescence programmes.
• Ability to forecast and make educated assumptions.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and with stakeholders.
• Knowledge of MRP/ERP manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of encoder production processes.
• Knowledge of metrology and optical measurement technology.
• Experience with Renishaw products.
• Problem solving and proactive mindset.
• Experience with remote team members.

Responsibilities

• Work with Product Marketing, engineering teams, subsidiaries, and customers to understand technical requirements and support migration from obsolete products to suitable alternatives within the portfolio.
• Develop supporting materials and help define upgrade paths.
• Analyse sales data to support decisions on obsolete components.
• Create presentations to support lifecycle strategy and communicate it clearly to subsidiaries and internal stakeholders.
• Manage specific obsolescence programmes
• Liaise with forecasting to develop end of life forecast
• Build relationships with subsidiaries to gather information and support obsolescence
