Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust's Optometry team at the Spec Shop is seeking an Optical Assistant who combines client care with practical dispensing tasks. You will work alongside a Dispensing Optician to provide accurate eyewear and a smooth service experience for patients.

In this hands-on role you will dispense spectacles, advise on fit and comfort, manage stock, and support administrative duties.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Confidence working with eyewear and technical equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.

Responsibilities

• Dispense spectacles under the guidance of a Dispensing Optician.
• Advise patients on spectacle wear, fit and comfort.
• Adjust and maintain frames for optimal performance.
• Glaze and verify spectacles using in-house equipment.
• Help keep the Spec Shop organised and stock levels managed.
• Support administration and assist with basic clinical duties when required.
