Job summary

Specsavers in the United Kingdom is seeking enthusiastic individuals to begin an Apprenticeship as an Optical Assistant. You’ll spend 15–18 months in a paid role across our Kidderminster Coventry Street, Kidderminster Sainsbury’s, and Stourport stores, learning on the job while supporting customers.

You will train with seasoned teams, earn £10 per hour while working 37.5 hours per week (including a weekend day), and auto-enroll into the pension scheme.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths 9–4 (A–C) or equivalent.
• Right to work in the UK; EU residence requirement.
• Not currently enrolled in another government-funded course.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers into store and help them with service needs.
• Book eye tests and pre-screen patients.
• Provide style advice and measure frames.
• Answer phone calls and assist colleagues as needed.

Our store

This role offers the opportunity to work across our Specsavers stores in Kidderminster Coventry Street, Kidderminster Sainsbury’s and Stourport, giving you exposure to a variety of customers, colleagues and working environments. Each store is supported by friendly, experienced teams who are passionate about delivering outstanding customer care and helping people find the right eye and hearing care solutions. Working across multiple locations provides great variety in your day-to-day role, the chance to develop your skills and knowledge, and the opportunity to build strong relationships with both customers and colleagues across the local Specsavers network. Your on-the-job training will sit alongside structured learning and at the end of the 15-18 months as an apprentice, you’ll be a fully-fledged Optical Assistant.

Who is this Apprenticeship for?

• You have GCSEs in Maths at grades 9–4 (A*–C), or an equivalent qualification
• You’ve lived in the EU for at least 3 years and have the right to work in the UK
• You’re not currently enrolled in another government-funded course
