Job summary

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a suitably qualified Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology for a full-time, fixed-term 12-month position. 10 programmed activity per week with on-call commitments 1 in 5, across multiple sites.

The post holder will contribute to ophthalmology outpatient and surgical activity, travel between sites within the Trust footprint, and develop an area of interest with support from the Ophthalmic Local Trainee Scheme.

Qualifications

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
FRCOphth Part 1.
A higher degree in ophthalmology.
A GMC registration/licence at time of application.
At least two years' experience across ophthalmology and subspecialties.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skill in ophthalmology.
Auditing experience and up-to-date surgical/evidence logbooks.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives and Healthcare professionals.
Ability to teach clinical skills.

Responsibilities

Contribute to ophthalmology outpatient and surgical activities.
Travel between Trust sites as required.
Develop your own area of interest within ophthalmology with support from the Ophthalmic Local Trainee Scheme.
Participate in on-call commitments on a 1 in 5 basis.
Support safeguarding and maintaining high quality patient care.
