Job summary

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board in South Wales seeks a Specialist Grade Doctor in Ophthalmology to provide expert clinical care and leadership. The role covers defined outpatient and inpatient teams with autonomous practice, contributing to service delivery and continuous improvement.

The post offers a fixed-term contract for up to 12 months to cover a secondment, with a 10-session week and full GMC registration; Welsh language skills at level 3+ are desirable.

Qualifications

• Full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
• Eligibility to work and live in the UK.
• Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical expertise and leadership to a defined outpatient and inpatient teams where appropriate.
• Provide specialist assessment and clinical management of patients with Ophthalmology problems.
• Provide medical liaison and advice regarding patients to local Specialist Doctors and GPs as necessary.
• Provide supervision for the speciality doctor and core trainee, and to a Specialty Training Registrar if the post holder is approved as an Educational Supervisor and if an ST is allocated to the team.
• Liaise effectively with members of the team, other services within the Health Board, general practitioners and other agencies.
