Job summary

The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a committed ophthalmic nurse for an Outpatients and Casualty unit in England. The role runs Monday–Friday 8am–6pm and Saturday mornings 8am–1pm, with training provided for the suitable candidate.

You must be a Level 1 Registered General Nurse and ideally have ophthalmology experience. Sponsorship is not available; applicants must have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the contract.

Qualifications

• Must be a Level 1 Registered General Nurse.
• Experience in Ophthalmology preferred, but full training and support will be provided to the most suitable candidate.

Responsibilities

• Under take visual acuities and administer prescribed medications as directed by doctors.
• Communicate with patients and relatives to explain progress and ensure cooperation with treatment.
• Liaise with medical, paramedical staff and other agencies to ensure timely delivery of patient care.
• Assist with ophthalmic nursing procedures and casualty triage as required.
• Prepares clinical environment and assists with intravitreal injections and minor procedures.
