Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 5 Staff Nurse for the Ophthalmology Treatment Centre. The post supports a busy Ophthalmology Unit housed in a purpose-built facility with an operating suite.

You must be a Level 1 Registered General Nurse; ophthalmology experience is desirable, with full training and support provided to the best candidate. The role includes pre-reads, intravitreal injections support, direct ophthalmic nursing procedures, and

Qualifications

• NMC registration with current live pin.
• Band 5 level RN with eligibility to work in the UK.
• Experience in ophthalmology is desirable but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Undertake visual acuity assessments and administer prescribed medications as directed.
• Communicate with patients and relatives to explain progress and support treatment adherence.
• Liaise with medical and allied staff to ensure timely patient care delivery.
• Adapt to workload variations and maintain patient safety and dignity.
• Pre-read patient notes to identify required interventions and plan workload.
