Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust invites applications for a General Practitioner with Special Interest in Ophthalmology. The post will deliver an ophthalmology service at the UHL Community hospitals (UHLiC) and contribute to transforming the service with digital systems and efficient working practices.

The post holder will work with the Consultant Ophthalmology team, perform ophthalmology procedures and clinics, and ensure high-quality patient care while supporting service development

Qualifications

• IT literacy required and able to use digital systems.
• Commitment to digital transformation within ophthalmology services.
• Flexibility with clinic slots, face-to-face to virtual.
• Ophthalmology pathways including virtual working (e.g. Glaucoma reviews).
• Use of UHL guidance for treatment and discharge.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ophthalmology services at UHL Community hospitals (UHLiC).
• Provide outpatient ophthalmology care and support secondary care clinics.
• Help reduce backlogs and waiting times in ophthalmology pathways.
• Adhere to GMC Good Medical Practice standards.
