Job summary

Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking a full-time Ophthalmology consultant with a specialist interest in cataract surgery. The post is based at Singleton Hospital, Swansea, and will join a team of 16 Consultants delivering ophthalmology services across the Health Board.

The successful applicant will participate in the 1 in 11 on-call rota, with duties potentially at other Health Board locations and travel between hospitals as required.

Qualifications

• On GMC Specialist Register or eligible for entry within 6 months of interview
• FRCOphth desirable for sub-specialty training
• Registered with the GMC and licensed to practice
• European/PMETB recognition may allow direct entry to GMC Specialist Register

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical ophthalmology service including prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness
• Lead and train multi-professional team and ensure safe, efficient service operation
• Engage in risk management, clinical governance and adherence to good medical practice
