Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a motivated Senior Clinical Support Worker to join the busy ophthalmology team. You will support patients, chaperone during procedures and help run the day’s clinics.

Core duties include vision testing, IOP and colour vision tests, assisting in theatre and booking referrals, with a strong emphasis on safe patient care and experience. This is a part-time Band 3 role, pro rata salary (£25,760–£27,476 per year).

Qualifications

• Numeracy and literacy to Level 1 or GCSE Grade 2-3, D-F or equivalent (IELTS/OETS accepted for overseas applicants).
• Care Certificate or must complete within 12 weeks of starting.
• NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care or equivalent, or willing to complete if successful.

Responsibilities

• Support and chaperone patients during procedures and help run clinics.
• Organise and run individual ophthalmology clinics.
• Perform vision tests, height/weight and BMI observations.
• Assist in theatre and book patient referrals.
