Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Practitioner for the Nelson Day Unit within the Ophthalmology team. You will join a busy day-case unit delivering high-quality pre- and post-operative care for ophthalmic procedures, working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and a positive experience.

Qualifications

• Assisting with pre- and post-operative care under supervision.
• Ability to perform basic observations and delegated assessments.
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, carers and the wider team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient records and ensure documentation is complete and accurate before procedures.
• Support pre-operative preparation and post-operative recovery, including observations as delegated.
• Escalate concerns promptly to a registered practitioner.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and stock clinical areas/equipment per policy.
• Provide reassuring, person-centered care and explain what happens next to patients.
