Job summary

Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our Ophthalmology team on a 22.5-hour week, including evenings and weekends as required. You will perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity assessments and OCT imaging to support clinicians in diagnosis and treatment, liaising with nurses and consultants to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Essential: GCSE in English and Maths (or equivalent)
• Desirable: NVQ 3
• Experience: Previous experience within a healthcare setting
• Desirable: Visual acuity/ field testing, ability to train others, ophthalmic experience

Responsibilities

• To participate in skills training and assessment prior to undertaking additional roles.
• To attend in-service training and support meetings; participate in clinical governance.
• Care for and maintain equipment used in Outpatient clinic and assist with basic clinical duties under supervision.
