Job summary

Optical Express in Bristol is hiring a Healthcare Assistant (Surgery Assistant) to join a leading private eye care provider. The role involves covering other Optical Express surgery clinics, with some weekend work and travel between sites.

You will work across laser vision correction and intraocular lens theatres, assisting the surgical team and supporting patient care with emphasis on safety and high-quality service.

Responsibilities

• Carry out pre-operative testing and assist during consent appointments.
• Discharge patients and update medical records; book follow-up appointments.
• Prepare and calibrate lasers; manage data and ensure safe laser operation.
• Coordinate patient flow to minimise waiting times and answer queries.
• Assist the surgeon during consent and treatments as scrub assistant for LVC.
• Support the theatre team in IOL procedures and post-op tasks.
• Assist with end-of-day paperwork, stock and lens ordering, and filing.
• Report untoward incidents and support patient safety and risk management.
