Job summary

EMR in Oldbury, United Kingdom, is seeking an Operations Technician to maintain plant and equipment, emphasising safety and efficiency. The role requires following health, safety, and quality policies and working on a 4 on 4 off days/nights pattern (06:45-19:00 / 18:45-07:00).

You will perform routine and reactive maintenance, observe procedures, and assist with the Maintenance team to ensure minimal downtime and robust housekeeping.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of safe working environment and hazard awareness.
  • Experience with basic mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Experience in manufacturing production or material processing.
  • Experience working to SOPs and SWPs.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies.
  • Adhere to SWPs and SOPs; wear PPE and report defects.
  • Monitor plant performance and report defects/variations.
  • Carry out basic planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Conduct patrols and assist with maintenance tasks.
  • Deliver shift handovers and support risk assessments.

About Our Opportunity:

Working as a key member of the operations team, the post holder will operate , supervise and maintain the plant and equipment whilst prioritising safety and efficiency.

This opportunity will be working a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off Days & Nights 06:45-19:00/18:45-07:00

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Understand and adhere to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Work to all relevant safe working procedures (SWP’s) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Maintain and wear statutory PPE issued and report defects to the site management team as required ;
  • Report all accidents and near misses in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Monitoring the operational performance of plant and equipment and reporting defects and variations.
  • Carry out basic planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Conduct Patrol Audits as directed by the Shift Management.
  • Assist with any general duties as required by the Shift Management.
  • Complete training and development in order to multi-skill and enable growth and career progression.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures including safe working procedures (SWPs).
  • Carry out daily and periodic checks including safety and quality
  • Carry out activities to capture, record and action all machine defects.
  • Assist the maintenance team with plant issue resolution
  • Ensure good housekeeping standards are met and relevant PPE is worn
  • Ensure safe isolation of machinery before undertaking relevant work
  • Undertake corrective actions within scope of authorisation
  • Complete actions from daily fault sheets
  • Work in accordance with risk assessments for bespoke maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure plant and workspace hygiene standards are maintained
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities.
  • Deliver a full and comprehensive operational handover between shifts

About You:

  • A strong appreciation and understanding of a safe working environment,hazard awareness and a compliant attitude
  • Previous experience of basic mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Manufacturing production or material processing experience
  • Previous experience of having worked to standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised as well as in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills.
  • NPORS or equivalent qualification in tele handler and forklift truck driving.
