Job summary

EMR is seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer (60/40) Mechanical to join our depot maintenance team. This hands-on role ensures plant and processing equipment runs safely, reliably, and efficiently across mechanical and electrical systems.

You will support continuous improvement, minimise downtime, and contribute to overall site performance, with ongoing training to grow your technical skillset and career progression.

Weekend work may be required to meet business needs.

Qualifications

  • Completed a time served apprenticeship with C&G NVQ 3 Diploma in Engineering maintenance or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills within heavy industry/manufacturing (60/40).
  • Experience working on heavy machinery, plant equipment, or processing systems.
  • Basic PLC fault-finding (desirable).
  • Experience or certification in welding and fabrication.
  • Experience with RCA techniques.
  • Be able to work some weekends to aid business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and fault-find on mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Work on electrical systems including 3-phase motors, control panels, sensors.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs to maximise plant uptime.
  • Maintain and repair equipment including conveyors, shredders, motors, bearings, power transmissions, pumps and gearboxes.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely in line with company procedures and health & safety standards.

About the Role

This is a hands‑on role where you’ll play a key part in ensuring our plant and processing equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. Working on both Mechanical and electrical systems, you’ll support continuous improvement, minimise downtime, and contribute to the overall performance of the site. You’ll also benefit from ongoing training and development to expand your technical skillset and career progression.

What you will be doing

About You
  • Completed a time served apprenticeship and gained qualifications of C&G NVQ 3 Diploma in Engineering maintenance or equivalent.
  • Good Mechanical and Electrical fault‑finding skills within heavy industry/manufacturing environment (60/40).
  • Experience working on heavy machinery, plant equipment, or processing systems.
  • Basic PLC fault‑finding (desirable but not essential).
  • Have experience or certification within Welding and fabrication.
  • Experience of RCA techniques.
  • Be able to work some weekends to aid business requirements.
