Job summary

Arla Foods Oswestry is seeking a proactive Production Operative to join a cheese packaging site on a permanent basis. You will support efficient packing line operations and contribute to quality and cost effectiveness across shifts.

The role offers progression from entry-level work through to supervisory and technical positions, with a clear career path and induction provided.

About the job

Arla Foods Oswestry are looking for a proactive Production Operative to join the team on a permanent basis. You will play a pivotal role in assisting with the efficient running of the packing lines in the production area within a cheese packaging site.

At our Arla Oswestry site we pack circa 79,000 tonnes or cheese annually, 1620 tonnes per week.

These positions offer a clearly defined career pathway where employees are supported to develop their skills from entry-level production roles through to supervisory, technical, and management positions. So if you are looking for progression, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

The successful candidate will work a 3 on, 3 off, 12 hours shift pattern that will include both day and night shifts. They will contribute to the quality and technical areas in the Production team to enable it to produce the highest quality cheese products in a reliable and cost effective way. Duties will include

  • Operate production equipment
  • Effectively run Packing lines by using production IT systems
  • Perform simple maintenance tasks
  • Maintain strict Food Hygiene and Health and Safety standards within the department
  • Monitor equipment performance and correct / raise issues before they become problems
  • Reporting safety issues to maintain proper safety conditions of equipment and surroundings
What you’ll need in order to be successful in the role
  • Ambition & drive
  • Previous experience working within a similar environment would be beneficial but not essential
  • Previous experience with food safety regulations and practices would be beneficial but not essential
  • All training and support will be provided during your induction period
  • A motivated team player, who can work on their own initiative
  • You’re as serious about quality as we are – and ready to work hard to achieve it
  • A good attendance record and a willingness to learn further skills
