Job summary

Arla Foods A.m.b.a’s Ingredients team in production operates on a demanding 4 on 4 off, 12-hour shift to deliver permeate powder and WPC60. You will lead production, coach operators, and safeguard safety, quality and environmental standards to meet KPIs.

You will work with engineering to minimise downtime, analyse processes and contribute to continuous improvement, CAPEX projects and maintenance while keeping audit-ready documentation.

Qualifications

  • Motivated team player who can work on their own initiative and make decisions.
  • Excellent communication and people skills to build positive relationships.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or related environment preferred but not essential.
  • Able to consistently work under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving and an eye for detail.
  • Excellent attitude towards quality, food safety and health and safety
  • Excellent IT skills, numeracy and literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead production & coach operators to ensure safety, quality and environment to achieve department KPIs.
  • Escalate any serious issues to the Production Team Leader or Production Manager.
  • Make decisions to resolve any day to day production issues.
  • Operate and monitor state-of-the-art processing equipment to produce demineralized ‘dry blend’ permeate powder and WPC60 to the required standards.
  • Work with engineering and other team members to reduce lost time due to breakdowns and ensure plant availability for maintenance and projects.
  • Use specialist knowledge to analyse processes and make suggestions for optimisation and improvements.
  • Actively contribute to problem solves, continuous improvement activities and CAPEX projects.
  • Support the delivery of the Business Plan by involvement in Business Plan Charters.
  • Cleaning/housekeeping to maintain a hygienic and food safe environment, to be audit ready at all times.
  • Ensure department paperwork is filled out accurately and in full.
  • Proactively maintain a safe working environment by raising near misses and risk observations.
  • Contribute to completion of risk assessments and SOPs.

The Ingredients department at Arla Foods produces 18000 tons of permeate powder and 4000 tons of whey protein concentrate using membrane, evaporator and drying technology. Our customers use the products as ingredients in foods and dry blend products, and therefore have high demands for quality and food safety. Our raw material is based on whey, which comes from quality cheese productionat Taw Valley Creamery.

It’s a fast-paced site and the Operator role will involve working on a 4 on 4 off 12hr shift basis, Your main responsibilities will be around

  • Support the delivery of the Business Plan by active involvement in Business Plan Charters.
  • Cleaning/housekeeping to maintain a hygienic and food safe environment, as to be audit ready at all times.
  • Ensure that department paperwork is filled out accurately and in full.
  • Proactively maintain a safe working environment by raising near misses, risk observations, environmental observations and behavioural safety observations.
  • Contribute to completion of risk assessments and standard operating procedures.
Your Skills
  • A motivated team player, who can work on their own initiative and make decisions.
  • Excellent communication & people skills - ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing or other related manufacturing/scientific environment preferred but not essential.
  • Able to consistently work under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving and an eye for detail.
  • Excellent attitude towards quality, food safety and health and safety
  • Excellent IT skills, numeracy and literacy.
