Job summary

The Birmingham Bio Power Energy Recovery Facility requires an operations support operator to supervise fuel unloading, loading to plant systems, basic maintenance and cleaning as part of a three-person shift team.

You will contribute to health, safety and environmental policies, perform weighing and sampling of fuel, operate FEL, telehandler and forklift, and undertake routine maintenance and SOP compliance. The role covers 365 day, 24/7 shift coverage.

Qualifications

• Experience handling fuels in industrial settings.
• Understanding and applying health, safety and environmental policies.
• Ability to work in a three-person shift team and cover shifts when needed.

Responsibilities

• Unloading, loading and storage operations of fuel.
• Undertake fuel weighing and sampling and record results.
• Machine operations – FEL, telehandler and forklift.
• First line maintenance of machines including greasing and PPM checks.
• Follow SOPs and maintain a clean, safe plant condition.
• Comply with health, safety and environmental policies and legislation.
• Provide shift cover for other operators as needed.
• Work 365 days a year on a 24/7 shift rota.

Job description

The key aim of this role is to provide operation support at the Birmingham Bio Power Energy Recovery Facility through supervision of fuel unloading, loading of fuel to plant systems, basic plant maintenance and cleaning works as part of a three-person shift team.

The key metrics are:

Performance and compliance with key policies/procedures including health and safety.

Role & Responsibilities

• Unloading, loading and storage operations of fuel
• Undertake fuel weighing and sampling duties including the recording of results
• Machine operations – FEL (front end loader), telehandler and forklift
• First line maintenance of machines including greasing and PPM checks
• Enact and adhere to operational standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly plant condition to the prescribed standard
• To understand and comply with all health, safety, and environmental policies and legislation
• Provide shift cover for other operators in the event of sickness, annual leave or training
• Work as part of a 365 day, 24/7, shift rota
