Ringway is looking for an Operative - General in Welwyn Garden City to perform general maintenance works and operations under a Chargehand. The role includes responding to emergencies on a rota basis and assisting with winter maintenance as needed. Apprentices who have completed training are welcome.

The position is permanent with full-time hours (39 per week) on site in Hertfordshire, working with a team to deliver a broad range of highways and related tasks.

Competenze

• Banksman and manual handling skills required.
• Abrasive wheels and emergency first aid awareness essential.
• Safe digging practices and current driving license are expected.
• CSCS card may be required by client specification.
• Positive daily behaviours per company matrix.

Summary

To carry out general maintenance works and operations, working with a Chargehand, undertaking a wide range of routine and cyclical works. To respond to emergencies and call outs during or out of hours on rotas as required and assist with winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver’s mate. Includes apprentices who have fully completed training.

Specialist Skills

• To have and be able to apply a wide range of generalist skills
• To understand risk assessments and to assess according to safe systems of work
• To be able to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification
• Generally hold 12 months+ experience
• Potential & interest in obtaining LGV licence
• Undertaken training on: General health & safety awareness / Risk assessment awareness / Traffic Management / Use of PDA as required
• Ability to use small plant and equipment
• Ability to operate mini excavator
