We’re seeking an Operations Training Manager to join our Mersey Division and help us build a culture of excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement across our operational teams.

Your role

As our Operations Training Manager, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and delivering a strategic training plan across our Liverpool operations. Supporting over 100 port operatives and third-party labour, you will lead the development and implementation of operational training programs that enhance safety, capability, and compliance.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the training function and managing our in-house trainer
  • Designing and delivering high-quality training that aligns with operational and safety standards
  • Conducting audits and evaluations to ensure training effectiveness
  • Driving continuous improvement in training materials, processes, and delivery
  • Partnering closely with Health & Safety, Compliance, and Operational leaders
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant training records

What you'll bring

We’re seeking a confident and capable training leader who can both deliver on the ground and think strategically. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A recognised training or instructor qualification (NPORS preferred, RTITB considered)
  • Experience designing and delivering training in high-risk or logistics environments
  • Proven leadership of a training function or team
  • Strong knowledge of plant and equipment operations
  • Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A solid understanding of compliance and safety standards
  • A Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH/NEBOSH) is advantageous

Much of our success depends on our unrivalled facilities and technology. But in our sector, it comes down to having the right talent to enable our organisation to grow.

What we can offer you

In addition to a competitive salary, we have a strong track record of developing our people to expand their skills and experience and develop their careers. Valuing and rewarding our workforce is important to us which is why we offer a fantastic range of flexible benefits to choose from, such as:

  • 27 days holiday per annum (plus bank holidays)
  • Up to 10% Matched Contribution Pension
  • Peel Ports Flexible Benefits including salary sacrifice car scheme, healthcare cash plans, Cycle2Work Scheme, critical illness insurance, gyms, retail vouchers
  • Commitment to learning and personal development
  • We promote good physical and mental health and can provide additional support to colleagues via our employee assistance programme when required
