As our Technical Operations team continues to grow, we're excited to welcome a skilled Operations Technician to join us.

In this role, you'll support our Craftsmen and Project Managers in the construction, auditing, and energisation of electricity networks, applying your technical expertise, initiative, and problem-solving skills. With clear career progression opportunities, you’ll have the chance to develop into an HV Authorised Person, Senior Authorised Person, and ultimately an Operations Engineer.

Your responsibilities as an Operations Technician:

• Testing & Operational Duties (where appropriately authorised):
• Pre-commissioning and Testing – Conduct 11kV & LV switchgear pre-commissioning, including IR & continuity testing, pressure testing, primary & secondary injection testing, and CT magnetisation, polarity, and ratio checks.
• Cable Testing and Fault Repair – Perform 1kV & 5kV cable testing, sheath & IR tests, and cable stripping/re-capping for DNO audits, as well as LV/HV fault location and sheath repairs.
• Network Energisation and Connections – Liaise with DNO engineers for LV and HV network connections, energisation of substations, and IDNO/DNO LV network activation.
• DNO 'Self-Connect' Activities – Plan, prepare, and execute LV ‘Self-Connect’ activities and support HV ‘Self-Connect’ operations, progressing towards 11kV AP for switching on ground-mounted apparatus.
• CT Metering Installation and Compliance – Install and test CT Metering wiring to industry standards (COP3/COP5 & P283), ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.

Experience / Knowledge:

• Previous experience in the utility sector in a similar operational role
• A sound knowledge of HV and LV distribution networks and the apparatus and cables used in Construction.

Qualifications:

• At least a Level 2 City & Guilds or equivalent level of qualification, with a good theoretical and working knowledge of 1ph and 3ph electrical systems.
• Current or previous DNO/iDNO LV Craft and/or HV Operational Authorisations
• A recognised supervisory Health & Safety qualification (e.g., SSSTS or IOSH)
