Operations Support Executive (Various Shifts)
  • Location: North Acton, Ealing, Greater London, United Kingdom

We are currently looking for an organised and enthusiastic Operations Support Executive to join our Operations Depot in North Acton, London, to support our drivers and ensure the smooth running of shifts.

A starting salary of £33,750 per annum, with the potential to earn up to £37,000 as you progress in the role.

Description

First Mile is London’s leading recycling service, supporting over 30,000 locations across London. We seek an efficient individual to coordinate our drivers and fleet, ensuring smooth operations.

This is a great opportunity to join our thriving Operations team. Prior Operations experience is not essential; however, strong organisational and administrative skills are required.

The Job

The Operations Support Executive will facilitate daily operational functions, assisting Transport and Service Supervisors by managing administrative tasks related to fleet and driver coordination.

Shifts operate on a 4 days on, 2 days off continuous rota, with each shift lasting 10 hours and start times alternating to support rounds at different times.

AM shifts:

  • 2 days 06:00 - 16:00
  • 2 days 08:00 - 18:00

PM shifts:

  • 2 days 18:00 - 04:00
  • 2 days 20:00 - 06:00

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent communication skills to inform, assist, and advise
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple duties and coordinate fleet and dispatch
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reporting to Operations Supervisors on duty
  • Supporting dispatch and administrative tasks
  • Addressing driver issues related to trucks and routes
  • Providing daily shift updates to the OPS team
  • Ensuring communication and follow-up between shifts and support teams
  • Providing holiday coverage for specialist supervisors
  • Managing administration tasks such as allocating customers and collections
  • Communicating with drivers to resolve issues during rounds
  • Logging reported issues for customer service follow-up
  • Escalating complaints to relevant specialists or account managers
  • Accurate data entry for drivers and vehicles at shift start and end
  • Supporting dispatching drivers efficiently, including weekend dispatch
  • Assisting with investigations into customer issues
