Job description

Oxfordshire | Hybrid working considered | Full time

Are you an experienced Operations or Supply Chain Manager who enjoys taking ownership, improving how things work and solving the problems that come with scaling a technology business?

We are working with an innovative, growing technology company in Oxfordshire that is looking for an Operations & Supply Chain Manager to take ownership of its day to day operations, supply chain and procurement activities.

This is a broad and influential role. You will be joining a business that designs and develops physical technology products, working closely with engineering, R&D, manufacturing and commercial teams to make sure products can be delivered efficiently, reliably and at scale.

What will you be doing?

You will have responsibility across operations, supply chain and procurement, including:

  • Taking ownership of day to day operational performance
  • Leading operational planning, capacity and resource management
  • Improving KPIs, processes and operational controls
  • Managing inventory across multiple locations and external partners
  • Managing the end to end supply chain and improving its resilience
  • Working closely with OEM, CEM and outsourced manufacturing partners
  • Managing supplier performance across quality, delivery and responsiveness
  • Identifying and reducing supply chain risks
  • Leading supplier selection, negotiations and commercial agreements
  • Driving cost reduction across the BOM
  • Supporting engineering and R&D teams with NPI and new product development
  • Helping products move successfully from design into production
  • Leading and developing members of the operations team
  • Driving continuous improvement across the wider operation
What are we looking for?

You will ideally have:

  • Previous operations management experience within a hardware, electronics, engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Strong supply chain and supplier management experience
  • Experience working with OEM, CEM or outsourced manufacturing partners
  • A track record of improving operational processes and performance
  • Experience managing inventory across multiple locations or partners
  • Hands on experience with an ERP or MRP system
  • Experience managing or leading a team
  • Strong commercial and supplier negotiation skills

Experience working alongside R&D or engineering teams on NPI would be particularly useful, as would experience within electronics or component supply chains.

Qualifications such as CIPS, APICS or CPIM would be beneficial, but practical experience and a strong track record are more important.

Why consider this role?

This is not a position where you will simply inherit a mature operation and keep it ticking over.

You will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on how the business operates as it grows, improving processes, strengthening the supply chain, developing supplier relationships and working closely with technical teams to bring new products into production.

There is a good benefits package including 33 days' holiday including public holidays, 5% pension contributions, healthcare benefits, income protection, flexible working, enhanced parental leave and training and development opportunities.

If you are an Operations Manager, Supply Chain Manager or Operations & Supply Chain Manager looking for a broad role within an ambitious technology business, we would be keen to speak with you.
