Job summary

A leading financial services company in Greater London seeks a Banking Operations Assistant to support the Operations Manager in daily tasks and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Job description

Responsible for assisting Operations Manager in the day to day management of banking operations functions. Responsible for processing client general transactions, account opening, payments, static data maintenance and other operational tasks in line with existing bank's policy and procedure.

Provide a quality service to all customers, internal & external stakeholders and be proactive to client requirements in line with agreed business standards. Also responsible for covering the functions performed by Operations Manager in her absence.

Main responsibilities will include;

  • Ensure Operations processes are in compliance with bank's policies, regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Deliver a high quality customer service at all times.
  • Processing client static data maintenance, general banking transactions and cashiering.
  • Flexible, responsible and enthusiastic approach to work and a willingness to assist colleagues in the department.
  • Ensure all client transactions are completed in a timely and accurate manner including cash transactions.
  • Ensure conditions precedent relating to new Loan Drawdowns are met - liaison with Credit Risk.
  • Set up new Facilities approved by the Credit Risk on core systems.
  • Maintain approved limits on core systems for trading currencies, customers, counter-parties, countries, settlement, etc.
  • Ensure any risks are in the first instance are escalated to the Line Manager and if needed reported to Risk function using risk reporting channels
  • Create and manage Treasury Counterparties as required by the Treasury team.
  • Contribute and ensure timely delivery of actions related to projects
  • Process Fixed Term Loans, Term Deposits, Rollovers, Renewals and Repayments according to internal payment processes and procedures.
  • Maintain and update customers' mandates.
  • Periodically review Operations procedures and ensure desk instructions are up to-date.
  • Investigate, advice and resolve any queries, discrepancies with counter-parties/ customers in a timely manner, maintain query log and evidence of actions.
  • For all payments and customer transactions, ensure that all risk controls, AML and compliance processes are complied with, prompt and effective risk escalation and resolution takes place and bank operations escalation policies are implemented and adhered to.
  • Identifying and escalating areas of risk or issues to line manager and/or Head of Operations, Compliance/ MLRO or relationship manager as appropriate.

To be considered for this position, ideal candidates must have the following experience and skills;

  • Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience in banking, financial services, or a related field
  • Previous experience of banking, minimum 5 years
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of general banking and operation processes.
  • Good skills on the use of Banking technology
  • Knowledge of Equation Banking system is a distinct advantage
  • Analytical skills with keen eye for detail
  • Deadline orientated and ability to stick to time constraints
