Michael Page is recruiting for an Operations Officer to support the launch and growth of a custody platform focused on cross-border capital markets. The role covers CASS reconciliations, treasury operations, and regulatory reporting within a regulated wholesale banking environment.

The successful candidate will have 3+ years in UK financial services, custody experience, and be office-based five days a week. Knowledge of FCA regulations and SWIFT will be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree educated with a minimum of 3 years' experience within UK financial services.
• Proven custody operations experience including securities settlement, corporate actions, position reconciliations and working with custodians or sub-custodians.
• Experience performing CASS reconciliations within an FCA-regulated environment.
• Experience supporting operations across FX and/or interest rate products, including trade confirmation, settlement and account reconciliations.
• Knowledge of SWIFT messaging and custody/treasury/banking operations systems.
• Exposure to cross-border custody and international securities markets would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily and monthly CASS reconciliations across client custody assets with regulatory compliance.
• Reconcile securities positions against external custodians, depositories and internal records; investigate breaks.
• Maintain accurate records and reconciliation evidence in line with CASS and audit requirements.
• Process and monitor corporate actions, including coupon payments, redemptions and lifecycle events across custody assets.
• Provide operational support for FX transactions: confirmations, settlements, and account reconciliations.
• Support treasury products lifecycle including FX Spot, FX Forward, FX Swaps, repos and derivatives.
• Ensure timely trade confirmation, settlement and regulatory reporting across treasury operations.
• Liaise with front office, finance, compliance, custodians, and operations to resolve queries.

The position plays a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, operational control and accurate transaction processing within a regulated wholesale banking environment.

Description

• Perform daily and monthly CASS reconciliations across client custody assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
• Reconcile securities positions against external custodians, depositories and internal records, investigating and resolving any reconciliation breaks.
• Maintain accurate records, reconciliation evidence and supporting documentation in line with CASS and audit requirements.
• Support the ongoing management and development of a growing custody platform focused on cross-border capital markets activity.
• Process and monitor corporate actions, including coupon payments, redemptions and other lifecycle events across custody assets.
• Provide operational support for FX transactions, including confirmations, settlements, payment processing and account reconciliations.
• Support the lifecycle management of treasury products including FX Spot, FX Forward, FX Swaps, repos and interest rate derivatives.
• Ensure timely and accurate trade confirmation, settlement and regulatory reporting activities across treasury operations.
• Liaise with front office, finance, compliance, external custodians, counterparties and operations teams to resolve queries and support transaction processing.
• Maintain a robust control environment through maker/checker processes, operational risk monitoring, issue escalation and support for internal and external audits.
• Assist with regulatory reporting requirements, including CASS-related reporting and treasury transaction reporting obligations.
• Contribute to process improvements, operational efficiency initiatives and regulatory change projects within both the custody and treasury functions.

Profile

A successful Operations Officer should have:

• Degree educated with a minimum of 3 years' experience within UK financial services.
• Proven custody operations experience is essential, including securities settlement, corporate actions, position reconciliations and working with custodians or sub-custodians.
• Able and willing to work in the office 5 days per week (non-hybrid).
• Experience performing CASS reconciliations within an FCA-regulated environment, with a sound understanding of client asset rules and controls.
• Experience supporting operations across FX and/or interest rate products, including trade confirmation, settlement and account reconciliations.
• Good understanding of financial instruments including bonds, foreign exchange products and derivatives.
• Knowledge of SWIFT messaging and experience using custody, treasury or banking operations systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks and operational issues.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to operate within a well-controlled regulatory environment.
• Experience of regulatory reporting, UK EMIR, MiFID II/MiFIR, CASS governance or Resolution Pack activities would be advantageous.
• Exposure to cross-border custody, international securities markets would be beneficial.
• Professional qualifications such as IOC, CISI, CASS, FRM or similar would be viewed favourably.
