Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Value Stream Manager to join the Data Center Power & Control Division Starline Team in Reading, UK.

The Operations Manager (Values Stream Manager) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the in-house manufacturing processes, ensuring optimal output, quality, safety, and efficiency. The VSM leads by example, upholding Legrand’s values while driving continuous improvement and fostering a high-performance culture. This role is crucial in ensuring that all products meet quality standards, testing requirements, and design criteria. The VSM works closely with cross-functional teams to monitor operational metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to meet production and operational goals.

Main Job Duties:
  1. Ensure that Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to during the shift in line with Legrand’s health and safety policies.
  2. Maintain high employee morale.
  3. Manage, develop and motivate direct and indirect reporting staff.
  4. Model high standards of conduct and leadership.
  5. Lead Legrand team members to produce quality products on-time according to company policies.
  6. Supervise Legrand team members according to Legrand leadership development training.
  7. Lead and manage assigned manufacturing processes utilizing the Legrand Way Tier 2 meetings.
  8. Responsible for ensuring that all output built meets departmental standards of safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, 6S and budgetary (tools, scrap, etc.) goals.
  9. Develop and train new and existing employees to assist them in achieving their goals.
  10. Prepare the oncoming shift for success and provide an orderly, well documented shift transition.
  11. Work with off-shift supervisors to maintain a productive relationship between shifts and manage production handovers effectively.
  12. Have an active role in the company’s continuous improvement plans for future growth of the organization.
  13. Liaison between front line employees and all levels of management; key point of contact for all shop related communications.
  14. Professionally conduct employee corrective action after review with management.
  15. Evaluate and track quality and production processes in accordance with the ISO 9001 standards in place.
  16. Identify and resolve operational issues in conjunction with the frontline supervisor and Human Resources.
  17. Adhere to all company policies, guidelines and practices including the values.
  18. Provide input into departmental budget.
  19. Purchase non-inventory supplies as required.
  20. Assist in manual labor processes on an as-needed basis.
  21. Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Required Skills

Education:
  • Associate’s Degree required or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, may be considered in lieu of, or in conjunction with educational requirements.
  • Experience supervising in a $50M company.
  • Prior experience training and developing work teams and individuals.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts, including 6S methodologies.
  • Team building skills including ability to resolve conflict while maintaining harmonious work environment.
  • Proficiency using MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP (Infor Syteline preferred) and inventory flow/control.
  • Proven ability to lead teams while achieving goals.
  • Proven ability to develop individuals and teams.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environments with a focus on quality and efficiency.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Required exposure to manufacturing areas where the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
