Job summary

King & Moffatt Building Services in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Leader to oversee day-to-day M&E project delivery from our Wolverhampton base. You will drive on-time, on-budget performance, set strategic directions, and mentor project managers and engineers.

This role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, and a proven track record in safety, quality, and client negotiations.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in senior operations leadership within the M&E or building services sector.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, project delivery, and construction processes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Commercial acumen with experience in budget management and P&L responsibility.
• Familiarity with UK building regulations, CDM, and health & safety standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and teams across different regions.

Job Description

• Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations across all M&E projects, ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, implement best practices in project planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with business objectives, drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and profitability.
• Team Management: Lead and mentor Project Managers, Engineers, and support staff, foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
• Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, represent the company in high-level meetings and negotiations.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to health & safety regulations, quality standards, and industry codes, oversee audits and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Financial Oversight: Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance, identify opportunities for cost savings and margin improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven track record in senior operations leadership within the M&E or building services sector.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, project delivery, and construction processes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Commercial acumen with experience in budget management and P&L responsibility.
• Familiarity with UK building regulations, CDM, and health & safety standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and teams across different regions.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CSCS Managers Card, SMSTS, IOSH/NEBOSH) desirable.
• Minimum 10+ years’ experience in M&E project delivery, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
