Job summary

SDR, a family-owned care and housing provider, seeks an Operations Manager (Elderly Care) to oversee five homes across Sussex/ Hampshire from our Brighton head office. You’ll manage Registered Managers, lead staff culture, and drive improvements in resident outcomes while controlling occupancy and costs.

Travel across Sussex/Hampshire, 40 hours weekly, and collaboration with senior leadership form the core. A Level 5 Leadership & Management for Adult Care and a UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years managing multiple elderly care homes and Registered Managers.
• Track record of turning around underperforming homes and achieving CQC Good or Outstanding.
• Diploma or higher in Leadership and Management for Adult Care.
• Valid UK driving licence and access to a car.

Responsibilities

• Drive resident experience and outcomes improvements.
• Build a strong staff culture and high staff satisfaction.
• Line manage Registered Managers through supervision and coaching.
• Own budgets, occupancy, agency use and staffing costs across homes.
• Ensure audits and improvement actions are completed.
• Maintain relationships with CQC and commissioners to ensure inspection readiness.
• Lead newly acquired homes and bring them up to standards.
• Share on-call duties with Director and Regional Support Manager.

Operations Manager (Elderly Care) / Regional Director

Location: Brighton head office, with travel across our Sussex and Hampshire care homes

Hours: 40 hours per week

You’ll oversee five elderly care homes, their Registered Managers and teams – four residential homes and one nursing home – supporting them as they strive for excellent outcomes for our residents.

What you’ll be doing

• Sharing a senior on-call rota with the Director and Regional Support Manager

What you’ll need

• At least 3 years managing multiple elderly care homes and their Registered Managers
• A track record of turning around underperforming homes, and taking homes to CQC Good or Outstanding
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care, or equivalent or higher
• A full UK driving licence and your own car
