Job summary

Pharos Generator Services, part of the RSK Group, is recruiting an Operations Manager to join our Bristol-based team. This full-time role oversees regional service performance, coordinates engineers and staff, and drives efficiency improvements across the business.

The successful candidate will lead a diverse team, ensure safety compliance, manage quotations and client relationships, and contribute to our ongoing growth in backup power solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in operations management, preferably in standby generator or related industry.
• Commercial experience in contracts negotiation.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills in fast-paced environments.
• Solid understanding of service delivery processes and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Drive wider operational improvements: Beyond regional management, you will identify and implement best practices, process refinements, and efficiency gains that can be scaled across the entire business.
• Manage a team of Regional Service Managers, Engineers, Apprentices, and Administrative staff, ensuring they are trained, motivated, and equipped to meet objectives.
• Take responsibility for regional business performance, including service/remedial quotations, engineer coordination, and spares management.
• Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations and standards.
• Maintain strong relationships with key clients, handling escalated issues to ensure timely and effective resolution.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience in operations management, preferably in the standby generator or related industry.
• Previous commercial experience in contracts negotiation.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Solid understanding of service delivery processes and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Full UK Driving License is essential.

Pharos Generator Services (PGS) is a UK-based company with more than 60 years’ experience in the power generation industry. We specialise in supplying, installing, commissioning, repairing and servicing diesel backup and emergency-power systems.
