Job summary

Strange + Wright Recruitment Partners are working with a well-established manufacturer in Peterborough to appoint an experienced Operations Manager to join the Senior Management Team. The role leads Facilities, Engineering and Warehouse, driving safety, reliability and continuous improvement across the site.

You will report to the Operations Director and collaborate with Production, Quality, Commercial and Finance teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead Facilities, Engineering and Warehouse functions to optimise performance.
• Drive site Health & Safety and cultivate a proactive safety culture.
• Develop and mentor Maintenance Engineers, Warehouse staff and Safety Coordinator.
• Implement preventive maintenance programmes to reduce downtime.
• Oversee stock accuracy, picking, dispatch and warehouse efficiency.

Job description

Strange + Wright Recruitment Partners are delighted to be working exclusively with a well-established manufacturing business in Peterborough who are looking to appoint an experienced Operations Manager to join their Senior Management Team.

This is a broad and hands-on leadership role with responsibility for Facilities, Engineering, Warehouse Operations and Health & Safety across the site. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will play a key role in ensuring the business operates safely, efficiently and in line with its growth objectives.

The Role

As Operations Manager, you will lead a multi-functional team, driving operational performance whilst maintaining high standards of compliance, safety and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the Facilities, Engineering and Warehouse functions.
• Holding overall responsibility for site Health & Safety and driving a positive safety culture.
• Managing and developing a team of Maintenance Engineers, Warehouse personnel and a Health & Safety Coordinator.
• Implementing and managing preventative maintenance programmes to reduce downtime and improve asset performance.
• Overseeing warehouse operations, stock accuracy, picking performance and dispatch activities.
• Managing facilities, contractors and site services to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
• Controlling facilities and waste management budgets.
• Leading operational improvement and capital projects.
• Monitoring and reporting on operational KPIs and performance metrics.
• Working closely with Production, Quality, Commercial and Finance teams to support wider business objectives.

The Individual

We are looking for a confident and proactive operational leader with experience gained within a manufacturing environment.

• Significant experience in senior operations, engineering or facilities management.
• Experience leading maintenance engineering teams and preventative maintenance programmes.
• Warehouse management experience.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
• Budget management experience.
• Excellent leadership, communication and people development skills.
• A continuous improvement mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.

Desirable experience includes

• NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
• Engineering qualifications or apprenticeship background.
• Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Experience delivering capital projects.

The Package

• £40,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
