About the opportunity
As the Operations Manager, you will play a central role in overseeing and driving the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for ensuring that products are manufactured efficiently, cost-effectively to the customer quality requirements. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams—including engineering, quality, and supply chain—you will promote a high-performance culture rooted in safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
This role demands strong leadership and strategic thinking, with accountability for production performance and driving initiatives that support long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate daily production activities to meet delivery, quality, and cost targets.
Lead, and manage a diverse team of engineers, operators, and support staff in line with company values and performance expectations.
Champion a Safety-First culture and ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Promote and embed Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives across the production floor.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to support new product introductions and process improvements.
Monitor and drive performance using SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People) principles and operational KPIs.
Manage resource and capacity planning, ensuring efficient allocation of personnel and equipment.
Identify and manage risks and opportunities to enhance business outcomes.
Act as the initial operational escalation point for customer and stakeholder issues, providing timely updates and resolutions.
Manage supplier engagement to ensure delivery and quality standards are maintained.
Prepare and deliver production status updates and reports to internal stakeholders and customers.
Ensure the safe management and effective use of all site assets, facilities, and systems.
About You
Proven experience in a production or operations management role within a manufacturing or engineering environment—Aerospace or Defence sector experience is highly desirable.
Strong leadership capabilities with a hands-on, proactive, and engaging management style.
Sound understanding of engineering drawings, CAD data, and technical documentation.
Solid grasp of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels.
Commercially aware, with experience managing risk and contributing to strategic decisions.
Confident in using business systems and tools (e.g., Excel, SAP, Power BI); upskilling would be available as required.
Holds a full UK driving licence and has the legal right to work in the UK.
