Job summary

Cummins is offering a placement opportunity in Darlington for a Business Management/Data Science student. The role requires onsite presence three days per week, with relocation possible for the year-long placement commencing Summer 2027.

You will interact with stakeholders, compile KPIs, and use AI, Minitab and Excel to analyse manufacturing data. The role focuses on capacity, efficiency improvements, and departmental budget analysis within Operations Management.

Qualifications

• Institutional placement for a degree in Business Management, Data Science, or related disciplines.

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Business Management Student / Data Science Student or related disciplines to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Engine Business Segment in Darlington, United Kingdom. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.

The requirements are to be onsite for 3 days per week so you will need to be able to travel or relocate to the location on your own behalf.

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2027

External Qualifications and Competencies

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, knowledge of Power BI and Minitab. Quick to learn IT systems.
• Ability to present data effectively
• Candidates for this role should ideally be seeking a career within Operations Management.
