Job summary

Bombardier Services (UK) at the Biggin Hill Service Center in London is seeking an Operations Director - Line Maintenance to lead the Aircraft Maintenance department, overseeing daily operations, safety, and performance across multiple sites.

You will manage budgets, drive cost efficiency, ensure compliance with EASA/CAA and IOSH guidelines, mentor staff, and develop strategic plans for new programs in a fast-growing European network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent years of experience.
• Working knowledge of process improvement methodology.
• Familiar with Environmental, Health & Safety rules and regulations.
• Accounting and budgeting acumen to read profit/loss statements and financial reports.
• Experience supervising staff and leading teams.
• Experience in AOG/Line Maintenance is desirable.
• Ability to interface with customers and manage expectations.
• Strong planning, organization and communication skills.

• Coordinate customer communication, resolve disputes and manage invoiced work.
• Identify staff training needs and ensure workforce qualifications.

Bombardier’s Business Aircraft London Service Centre in Biggin Hill is part of an award-winning network and is the flagship of Bombardier’s European operation. This Base and Line Maintenance Centre is the fastest-growing Service Centre in Europe and the largest Business Aircraft OEM in the UK. The facility has the capabilities to perform an array of maintenance checks, modifications and upgrades all from this site. What are your contributions to the team?

Role, Responsibilities and Engagements
Responsible for assigned aircraft maintenance employees and the daily and overall operations of the aircraft maintenance department, such as technical performance, safety, schedules, personnel, quality, and the performance of all aircraft maintenance activities for multiple line maintenance site(s).
Develop annual Aircraft maintenance department budget including workforce requirements and approve payment of vendors’ or suppliers’ invoices
Achieve monthly financial objectives for Aircraft maintenance department i.e., labor margin, capital expenditures, and budgeted operating expenses
Ensure all maintenance performed on aircraft, engines, avionics, and aircraft components meet EASA/CAA regulations, as well as customer quality expectations
Maintain compliance with all IOSH Health & Safety guidelines as per environmental laws
Interface with customer representatives, coordinate customer communication activities and resolve any questions or disputes on customer invoiced for performed maintenance
Determine staff training needs to maintain work force qualifications and productivity
Ensure proper tooling and equipment is available to support operational requirements
Actively support and integrate continuous improvement activities into program procedures and processes
Collect and analyze service and maintenance data to identify trends and ensure margin performance is achieved
Assist in the development of strategic plans to support new programs and capabilities based on analysis of market trends.

How to thrive in this role?

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Have a proven track record of working in an aircraft maintenance facility environment with previous supervisory experience
Prior experience supporting AOG / Line Maintenance is desirable
Possess a Bachelors degree in related area or equivalent years of experience
Have working knowledge of process improvement methodology and application
Have accounting and budgeting principals acumen necessary to read and interpret profit/loss statements, financial reports, and meet financial objectives for assigned area and programs
Be familiar with Environmental, Health & Safety rules and regulations
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Possess strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to forecast labor and skill requirements
Have excellent presentation skills necessary to effectively communicate with customers and all levels of management
Demonstrate effective leadership and coaching skills with the ability to develop people
Have research and analytical skills necessary to collect, analyze, and interpret survey data, customer behaviors, and general trends within the applicable aircraft market
