Retained Executive Search Assignment

A superb opportunity to play your part in the next phase of growth of a thriving industry figurehead.

The Harland Partnership and Consortium Professional Recruitment have been retained to identify an exceptional Operations Director on behalf of a highly respected engineering‑led manufacturing business entering a significant phase of growth, investment and leadership evolution.

With revenues approaching £80m, approximately 500 employees and a multi‑site operational footprint, the business has established a market‑leading position within its specialist sector through engineering excellence, operational agility and an unwavering focus on customer delivery.

The organisation is now entering its next chapter.

Supported by significant investment and a clear long‑term growth strategy, there is strong confidence that the business can exceed £100m turnover within its existing operational footprint, creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Director to play a pivotal role in that journey.

The Opportunity

This Operations Director appointment combines strategic influence with hands‑on operational leadership.

The successful Operations Director will assume responsibility across engineering, manufacturing, planning and purchasing functions within a highly customised and technically demanding manufacturing environment.

Unlike many Operations Director roles operating within mature, highly repetitive production environments, this opportunity requires somebody capable of balancing operational discipline with agility, responsiveness and engineering judgement.

The role will focus on:
  • Leadership of engineering, manufacturing and purchasing activities
  • Operational performance and organisational capability
  • Planning, systems and operational improvement initiatives
  • Leadership development and succession capability
  • Cross‑functional alignment and stakeholder engagement
  • Supporting future growth, scalability and investment planning

This is not a turnaround.

It is not a cost‑cutting exercise.

It is an opportunity to build upon strong foundations and help create the operational platform for the next stage of growth.

The Business

The organisation combines many of the characteristics of an entrepreneurial manufacturing business whilst benefiting from the support, investment capability and stability associated with international ownership.

The environment is engineering‑led, customer‑focused and highly collaborative.

Success has been built on expertise, flexibility and the ability to respond effectively to complex customer requirements.

The leadership team is ambitious, grounded and committed to ensuring the business remains capable of supporting future growth whilst preserving the culture and values that have contributed to its success.
