Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, carrying out maintenance and commissioning activities within your designated area, including the top of M25, M4, M11, and bottom of M1, A14, M40, A1(M).

Our Operations and Maintenance Engineers are crucial in delivering our contracts, whether that involves maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works. Help build and maintain the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

What you’ll do:

• Attend to cable breaks and repair copper and fibre cables to keep the network operational.
• Complete all commissioning of equipment to the correct standards, on time and within budget.
• Address equipment issues within Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets within your area, day or night.
• Undertake general maintenance, commissioning, and testing of fibre and copper equipment.
• Complete all related documentation promptly.

Who you are:

You should have previous experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing within fibre or copper environments.

Key Requirements:

• Experience working on motorway communications or related equipment/systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, and fibre splicing & testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call when required.
• Full UK driving license.
