Job summary

Alstom in Oxley (WV10 6JQ) is seeking a Depot Operations Coordinator to lead a team responsible for movements, shunting and stabling rolling stock in preparation for maintenance and delivery. This permanent on-site role includes day, night and weekend shifts with a competitive package.

You will plan train formations, record vehicle numbers and timings, authorise movements and monitor safety compliance. Essential: good IT skills and strong literacy and numeracy; railway depot experience is

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate a team to move and stable rolling stock for maintenance and delivery.
  • Plan train formations and record vehicle numbers, arrivals and departures.
  • Authorize all movements within the depot and monitor shunting activities.
  • Sign in drivers and carry out rules assessments where qualified.
  • Monitor overhead isolations and washplant activities; maintain logs.

Salary + Benefits: £42,644.86 + 18.5% Shift Allowance

Your future role:

To work and coordinate a team, including movements, shunting and stabling rolling stock to include locomotives in a safe and efficient manner in preparation for train maintenance and delivery.

We'll look to you for:
  • Checking of relevant notices and computer generated prints
  • Plan train formation changes
  • Record vehicle numbers, arrival and departure times
  • Authorising all movements within the Depot
  • Monitor all shunting activities ensuring compliance with current standards
  • Signing in of drivers
  • Carry out rules assessments as required ( If qualified)
  • Responsible for Overhead Isolations form AS
  • Monitor and control washplant activities
  • Validate train formations
  • Maintain logs as required
  • FLT Driving
  • D.P.P duties
  • Sanding
  • Fuelling and system top up
  • General depot duties e.g.: Line of Routes
  • Chlorinating water points
  • Primary fault finding/reporting
  • Gritting of walkways in severe weather conditions and/or exceptional circumstances
  • Depot cleaning/general housekeeping (This will have no impact on Cleaners headcount)
  • Driving company vehicles if certified
  • Taking of fuel meter readings off rail vehicles
  • Train cleaning by exception (This will have no impact on Cleaners headcount)
  • Alista, SAP and SES input
  • Crane driving and lifting equipment where training has been provided & competent
  • Appointed persons
  • Mentoring others as and when requirednominated person as required
  • Additional training for future similar roles/types of equipment
  • Train driving of all types of unit to site
