We currently have an opening for an Operational Technology Maintenance Engineer based in Barnstaple. This is a full-time permanent role offering a competitive salary of £39,023 to £44,940 per annum plus excellent benefits.

About the role

As our OT Maintenance Engineer, you will repair and maintain critical remote plant and process control systems, supporting safe and efficient operational delivery. Responsibilities include planned maintenance, responding to operational issues, onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex problems. You will also identify and implement small capital projects to enhance operational resilience, working with a technology base that includes sensors, instrumentation, plant networks, PLCs, SCADA, process control, and telemetry.

What you’ll be doing:

• Carrying out planned and proactive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems to improve reliability and performance
• Responding to operational issues with onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution
• Participating in a 24/7 standby roster for out-of-hours reactive maintenance
• Collaborating with mechanical and electrical teams to prioritize and coordinate maintenance activities
• Using technical knowledge to recommend process improvements and efficiencies
• Assisting with root cause analysis of plant failures and performance issues
• Engaging with regional maintenance and standards engineers to ensure compliance with legislation and standards
• Managing firmware/software updates and rollouts following best practices
• Promoting a safety culture and ensuring compliance with health and safety policies

What we are looking for:

• Minimum 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Mathematics, English, and a Science subject (or equivalent)
• Relevant industrial control apprenticeship, qualifications, or training
• Experience with process control and ELV/LV electrical systems
• Experience with PLCs, including management and programming, especially on Schneider platforms
• Knowledge of instrumentation calibration and maintenance
• Excellent IT skills and a technical mindset
• Full UK driving license and ability to travel using a company vehicle
• Ability to complete UK Government Security Clearance (SC) process
