Job summary

Headington School is seeking a versatile Operations Manager to support the safe, secure and effective day-to-day operation of the School. The role includes coordinating site security arrangements and managing the transport fleet, while assisting the Director of Operations with risk management and MoD-compliant safety standards.

In addition, you will serve as the CCF School Staff Instructor for around two days per week during term time, training cadets and aiding adult volunteers.

Qualifications

• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Willingness to obtain CCF weapon handling/range and first-aid qualifications.
• Experience from military, cadet force, or uniformed youth organization background.
• Strong understanding of health and safety, risk assessment, and MoD assurance requirements.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and week-long camps; participate in emergency call-out rota.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate site security arrangements and manage the transport fleet across the School.

Job description

This is a varied, hands-on management role supporting the safe, secure and effective day-to-day operation of the School. The postholder will provide flexible operational support across the School, including coordinating site security arrangement and managing the transport fleet. The role also assists the Director of Operations with risk management, health and safety and compliance, including the standards and evidence relevant to an independent school.

Alongside the operational remit, the postholder will act as the CCF School Staff Instructor for approximately two days per week during term time. The SSI is central to the efficient administration, safe delivery and development of the CCF Contingent and will support planned evening and weekend activities, exercises and camps.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a full, clean UK driving licence and possess-or be willing to obtain-appropriate CCF weapon handling/range and first-aid qualifications. You will bring substantial experience from a military, cadet force, or uniformed youth organization background, giving you the credibility to train cadets and support adult volunteers. Alongside strong administrative, fleet, and stores discipline, you must demonstrate a sound understanding of health and safety, risk assessment, and MoD assurance requirements. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and week-long camps, plus participation in an agreed emergency call-out rota.
