Job description

Operational Resilience Specialist – Salary circa £55,000 (DOE)

We have an exciting opportunity to be part of the Operational Resilience team. Operational resilience is a crucial outcome that Aviva must achieve for our customers, with the key objective being that we can continue to deliver critical operations through periods of disruption.

As an Operational Resilience Specialist, you will play a key role in helping Aviva achieve these ambitions. If you’re passionate about making a real difference to our customers, we would love to hear from you!

A bit about the job:

You will work alongside the UK Market Leads, providing governance and SME support to Group Operational Resilience and the wider business. The role offers the opportunity to gain deep knowledge of how Aviva’s UK Businesses operate and support the resilience of key services, preventing intolerable harm to our customers. This is an ideal role if you thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment and are adaptable to changing demands.

Your focus will be on ensuring the resilience of the AIG Life Protection business, acquired by Aviva in 2024. You will collaborate with stakeholders from both Aviva and AIGL to understand the evolving landscape and ensure resilience is a key consideration in decisions.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Proven track record in delivering operational resilience activities within the Financial Services industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and meet short-term deadlines while progressing longer-term objectives.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple business areas.
  • Proactive in identifying and implementing improvement opportunities.
  • A self-starter who can work independently, exercising good judgment on when to involve others.

What you’ll get for this role:

  • Our purpose - "with you today, for a better tomorrow" – reflects our commitment to investing in our colleagues.
  • Salary circa £55,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
  • Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary, dependent on performance and company results.
  • Generous pension scheme - Aviva contributes up to 14%, depending on your contributions.
  • 29 days holiday plus bank holidays; options to buy or sell up to 5 days.
  • Discounts on Aviva products and other retailers, up to 40%.
  • Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and Save As You Earn scheme.
  • Supportive policies including parental and carer’s leave.
  • Flexible benefits, including sustainability options like cycle to work.
  • Paid volunteering days and access to wellbeing support and tools.

Aviva is for everyone:

We’re inclusive and welcome applications from all backgrounds and experiences. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. We also support flexible working arrangements, including part-time and job shares, and adapt locations, hours, and working patterns to suit our colleagues and customers.
