Responsibilities

• Deliver safe perioperative care across anaesthetic, operative, and recovery phases.
• Prepare theatres, anaesthetic rooms and equipment while maintaining infection control standards.
• Assist anaesthetists during induction, maintenance and emergence from anaesthesia.
• Support adherence to WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and NHS patient safety initiatives.

What you will do

• Deliver safe, effective, and individualised perioperative care throughout the anaesthetic, intraoperative, and recovery phases of the patient journey.


• Prepare theatres, anaesthetic rooms, and specialist equipment, ensuring compliance with infection prevention and control standards.


• Assist anaesthetists during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anaesthesia, maintaining patient safety at all times.


• Participate in the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and support adherence to NHS patient safety initiatives and theatre protocols.

Qualifications

• Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) or BSc in Operating Department Practice.


• Registered Operating Department Practitioner qualification.


• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).


• Evidence of continuing professional development.

Requirements

• Experience in an acute hospital theatre environment.


• Experience supporting a range of surgical specialities.


• Understanding of evidence-based practice.
