We have vacancies for registered Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) and Anaesthetic Practitioners (RN(anaes) to join our team.

CUH Theatres, is one of the largest and most advanced perioperative care services in the UK. Our team of over 600 staff support 39 state-of-the-art theatres, including 22 in our Main Theatres alone, which are split across three specialist units. We deliver some of the most complex and life-changing procedures available, including neurosurgery, major trauma, specialist paediatrics, complex cancer and obstetric surgeries.

In 2024/25, we performed over 39,000 surgeries and are on track to maintain this level of surgical activity this year, reflecting both the scale and impact of our service. Main duties of the job

• To work as part of the multidisciplinary team, providing safe and effective care for patients during the Perioperative period.
• To undertake the management of a defined clinical area in accordance with own competence and level of experience when required.
• To participate as an integral member of the theatre team.
• Participate in the supervision and training of students and junior staff.

All appointments with a start date on or after 1 October will be subject to a 12-week probationary period. This provides a structured and supportive period to help you settle into your role, with regular reviews and feedback.

All roles in the Trust include a mandatory 12-week training period. Therefore successful candidates are expected to have the Right to Work for a period of at least 6 months from the proposed start date. Immigration and Right to Work status will be discussed with successful candidates at conditional offer. CUH will not offer sponsorship to candidates that have applied for a fee waiver.

This vacancy is for Registered Nurses with full NMC registration. If you are an internationally trained nurse that has not passed their OSCE (objective structured clinical examination), you will not be considered for this role and will be automatically rejected, so please do not apply.

Qualifications

• RN / ODA / ODP
• Evidence of continued professional development
• NMC or HCPC active registration
• Evidence of completed formal Anaesthetic training
• Relevant Teaching and assessing qualification (or must be willing to work towards whilst in post)
• Evidence of accurate documentation and reporting

Experience

• Clinically current post qualification experience in Perioperative practice

• Liver Transplant and or Multi-visceral Anaesthesia Experience
• Evidence of supervision / mentoring of learners and junior staff
