Job summary

JCB is seeking an experienced Operational Buyer for a 12 Month FTC at our JCB Service site in the UK. You will link service teams with our supply chain, negotiate the best deals, and optimise parts inventory.

Key duties include sourcing service parts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring reliable lead times, while collaborating with Inventory, Planning, Customer and Technical Service teams.

Qualifications

• Purchasing experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Proficient with ERP/MRP systems and Excel reporting.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase service parts, components and consumables from approved suppliers.
• Negotiate competitive pricing, terms and lead times.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and track KPIs.
• Identify and onboard new suppliers to strengthen supply chain resilience.
• Undertake supplier resourcing activity proactively.

The Opportunity- Operational Buyer 12 Month FTC

About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced buyer to join our Operational Purchasing team based at JCB Service. You’ll be the crucial link between our service teams and our supply chain, playing a key role in building strong supplier relationships, negotiating the best deals and ensuring our parts inventory is always optimised.

What does this role involve day to day?

• You’ll source and purchase service parts, components and consumables from approved suppliers
• You’ll negotiate competitive pricing, favourable terms and reliable lead times with suppliers
• You’ll maintain accurate purchasing records and track performance against KPIs
• You’ll identify and onboard new suppliers to strengthen our supply chain resilience
• You’ll undertake supplier resourcing activity on a proactive basis
• You’ll build and manage supplier relationships
• You’ll work closely with key stakeholders in the Inventory and Planning teams, Customer and Technical Service and Global Warehouse functions.

• You have Purchasing experience in a fast-paced environment
• You possess strong negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills.
• You are proficient with ERP/MRP systems and solid Excel skills for reporting and analysis.
• You have strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-function teams
