Job summary

A leading environmental services company in Shrewsbury is seeking an Operation & Maintenance Assistant to manage waste reception and operate mobile plant equipment. The successful candidate will ensure safety standards and assist in maintaining cleanliness. Ideal candidates will possess problem-solving skills, a valid driving licence, and relevant qualifications for operating machinery.

Qualifications

  • Current counterbalance forklift truck, Telehandler and wheel loader driving qualification or equivalent desirable.
  • Experience of operating a mobile plant is desirable.
  • Good communication skills and ability to prioritise multiple tasks.

Hours: 40 hours per week on a staggered day rota
Location: Battlefield Enterprise Park, Vanguard Way, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY1 3TG

What you'll be doing
  • Manage the waste reception and ash residue hall areas, maintaining a safe environment
  • Manage vehicle movements and operate mobile plant equipment to load vehicles and maintain a high level of cleanliness
  • Operate plant refuge cranes
  • Clean plant and equipment to maintain health, safety and operational standards
  • Carry out plant inspections, take readings and train with the operations shift team
  • Any other duties as instructed by the Operations Supervisor / Shift Team Leader
What we're looking for
  • Problem solving and good teamwork
  • Current counterbalance forklift truck, Telehandler and wheel loader driving qualification or equivalent desirable
  • PC literate with good communication and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision and ability to prioritise multiple tasks
  • Driving licence is essential
  • Experience of operating a mobile plant is desirable
