Job summary

Southend University Hospital is seeking an Operating Department Practitioner to join the theatre team. This NHS role offers Monday to Friday shifts 08:00-18:00 and a pay range of £16.48–£18.47 per hour, with Medacs Healthcare facilitating placements.

• Six months UK experience within the last three years.

Responsibilities

• Identify, prepare, check and assemble equipment for the operating list.
• Prepare and organise the clinical area for elective, emergency and trauma procedures.
• Support patients and families, communicating clinical information clearly.
• Contribute to development of patient care within operating theatres through knowledge sharing.
• Demonstrate clinical assessment skills and prioritise care for surgical/anesthetic patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• To safely identify, prepare, check and assemble equipment required for the relevant operating list.
• Prepare and organise the clinical area to receive patients for elective, emergency, and trauma procedures.
• Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information using various methods to ensure effective understanding.
• Contribute to the continuing development of patient care within the operating theatres, e.g. through sharing knowledge and expertise as required.
• Demonstrate and develop clinical assessment skills and prioritise the care for patients undergoing a surgical / anaesthetic procedure.

Essential Qualifications:

• Current HCPC registration
• At least 1 years’ post-graduate experience.
• 6 months recent UK experience within the last 3 years
