Job summary
Tesco UK seeks a Platform Technical Lead to own the platform's technical direction, architecture and production integrity. You will partner with Platform Product Lead to translate roadmaps into engineering deliverables, defining standards and driving automation across OpenShift, GitOps, and observability.
You will mentor engineers, govern design decisions, and ensure a scalable, customer‑facing platform that supports product teams as customers.
Qualifications
- Proven technical leadership of a platform or product engineering team.
- Acts as design authority: ADRs, design reviews and standards ownership.
- Treats the platform as a product: defined interfaces, versioning and user experience for consuming teams.
Responsibilities
- Own the platform technical roadmap and architecture decisions.
- Design, build, operate and evolve the platform across OpenShift, GitOps and infra-as-code.
- Ensure production-grade quality with documented runbooks, tests and observability.
- Lead incident response, post-incident reviews and engineering changes.
- Coach engineers, push for cross-team collaboration and skills development.
- Systematically eliminate toil through automation and reliable delivery practices.
- Represent the platform in architecture forums and align with Tesco strategy.
