Job summary

Springer Nature is seeking an Associate Publisher to manage a portfolio of open access journals. The role reports to an Executive Publisher and focuses on strategic development, stakeholder liaison, and journal performance across both society and proprietary titles.

Based in London or New York, this hybrid role supports collaboration across internal teams and external Editors, with responsibility for growth, development plans, and ensuring high author experience in a fast-changing research

Qualifications

• Educated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Persuasion and influencing skills with diplomacy and tact.
• Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues at all levels and independently.
• Strong time management and organisational skills; owning tasks and deadlines.
• Experience developing productive relationships with researchers and editors.

Responsibilities

• Drive portfolio development and management of open access journals.
• Lead growth and development of journals with annual development plans.
• Manage journal submission, publication and transfer targets and timelines.
• Deliver strong author experience and engagement with EiCs, EBMs, and Societies.
• Navigate changing priorities and adapt to a fast-paced publishing environment.
• Resolve pre- and post-publication issues with staff and editors.
• Support data-driven decision-making with analytics and market intelligence.
• Lead contract negotiations and financial forecasting with external partners.
• Build relationships with colleagues and external editors; attend meetings as needed.
