Job summary

EDF is seeking a Fire Safety Engineer to shape the fire safety foundations for the Hinkley Point C project. You will help establish fire safety governance, readiness, and compliant operations across a highly regulated nuclear environment.

You’ll lead risk assessments, develop fire safety documentation, and collaborate with engineering, regulatory, and operations teams to ensure startup readiness and ongoing compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in fire management and fire safety design within complex industrial, nuclear, or high-hazard environments.
• Ability to develop fire safety governance arrangements and operational readiness strategies.
• Knowledge of UK fire safety legislation including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order is required.
• Experience supporting WANO reviews and operational readiness activities.
• Proven capability in conducting Fire Risk Assessments and Fire Hazard Analyses.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire safety governance and operational readiness strategies for the future station.
• Lead Fire Risk Assessments and Fire Hazard Analyses with input from key stakeholders.
• Support implementation of fire prevention strategies and fire protection arrangements.
• Provide specialist advice on fire legislation, regulatory compliance, and fire protection systems.
• Contribute to emergency preparedness, response planning, and WANO performance readiness.
