Job summary

Avantor is seeking a Biobank Liaison Scientist for a 12-month, full-time role at The Discovery Centre, Cambridge. You will split time between data-driven tasks (70%) and hands-on lab work (30%), focusing on acquisition and use of human biological samples, histology, and compliance across SOPs in a GCP environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a science-related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Biobanking or human tissue samples experience preferred.
• Histology techniques such as microtomy and staining familiarity.
• Familiarity with IT solutions; Excel for data transformation and analysis.
• Knowledge of global standards and regulations; GCP environment SOP adherence.

Responsibilities

• Receive and register Human Biological Samples; ensure traceability in systems.
• Maintain inventory of samples according to Good Clinical Practice; provide data manifests and labelling.
• Perform sectioning and staining; contribute to histology lab maintenance.
• Track work-in-progress using informatics systems and databases.
• Respond to internal and external customer queries; monitor key compliance dates.
