Job summary

AWE is looking for an Asbestos Management Operative in the Radiochemistry Group. The role focuses on inspecting buildings to locate, test and manage asbestos-containing materials, performing safety surveys, sampling, and maintaining asbestos registers.

You will work fully onsite near Reading, with a 9-day fortnight pattern and generous leave. The package starts from £24,160, with strong benefits and development opportunities within a safety‑conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Interest in asbestos management or compliance.
• Awareness of health and safety regulations and willingness to learn asbestos legislation and standards.
• Good attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Confident working independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain asbestos registers detailing ACM locations, types and conditions.
• Carry out safety surveys, collect samples, assess risk and report findings.
• Ensure compliance with CAR Reg 4 and relevant regulations.
• Update inspection data and manage asbestos records in the data system.
